Supersymmetry
Supersymmetry
The Supersymmetry collection was created in response to the dramatic changes in everyday life in 2020, when the home suddenly became a place for relaxation, work, creativity, and communication at the same time. The inspiration came from the concept of supersymmetry in modern physics, which proposes a relationship between different classes of elementary particles. This idea was translated into a transformable luminaire: two symmetrical parts can be joined or separated, turning a single object from a source of soft diffused light into a directional functional light for work and other activities.
In its vertical configuration, Supersymmetry provides soft general illumination and appears as a minimal luminous object. With one simple movement, the two symmetrical sections can be separated and moved into a horizontal configuration, directing the light towards a table or work surface.
A carefully engineered system of magnetic elements and suspension cables keeps the luminaire at a stable height in both configurations. This allows the light source to remain close to the table after transformation and helps maintain a comfortable level of illumination on the working surface.
The transformation itself becomes part of the user experience. Magnets make the elements easy to connect and separate, creating a distinctive kinetic and tactile interaction. The lighting scenario can therefore be changed with a single intuitive movement.
The construction consists of custom-developed aluminium LED profiles, matte acrylic diffusers, LED strips, and current-carrying suspension cables. The suspension height can be adjusted during installation, allowing the luminaire to adapt to different interiors.
The light distribution also changes according to the configuration, ranging from broad diffused illumination to more directional functional light. Supersymmetry therefore brings two contrasting lighting scenarios together within one object and allows the space to transform together with the user's changing needs.
